About Buzzy’s Bees

Give Grief a Voice Project:
The Give Grief a Voice Project (GGaV) launched in 2019 as a special project through Buzzy's Bees, supporting families who have lost a young child. We provide storytelling and artwork as tools for discussing and processing grief. As of this year we have provided stories and artwork to 64 families from 12 states, Canada, and Australia, with 9 artists, and 6 writers. Families come from diverse backgrounds and each story is personal and unique. For families who are a part of GGaV, a professional writer listens to and records each family's story, then an artist is commissioned to turn their words into a piece of art representing their child's life, which the family keeps. Buzzy’s Bees fundraises to pay the creatives and provide this gift at no cost to the families. Printed reproductions of the artworks are then displayed in a traveling gallery exhibition that has, so far, been displayed at 10 venues, including semi-permanent installations at the Northwest Mothers Milk Bank in Oregon and Good Grief Support Centers in New Jersey.

About the Exhibition:

This exhibit seeks to further the organization's mission to revolutionize grief culture dominant in North America from its tradition of silence and solitude to one of voice and community. The stigma, loneliness, and shame related to the unexpected death of a child impedes our culture's ability to grieve with families affected by this tragedy. The artwork, testimonials, and information panels invite attendees to bear witness to the grief of others in order to confront their own.
