Pregnancy After loss Resources
Guidance after a stillbirth, neonatal loss, or complicated pregnancy resulting in ending a pregnancy
- Following a pregnancy loss, we offer a multidisciplinary team consultation to discuss pertinent medical and obstetric information, autopsy results, results of placental and other evaluations, pregnancy risks, and possible reasons for your loss.
- If you are coming to us from outside of UCSF, we can support you through the process of requesting your previous records or requesting additional testing and obtaining the results. We’ll also recommend appropriate clinical care (within your system) based on the results.
- Our goal is to help find answers where possible, provide solutions where we can, and provide patients support through grief and healing.
- These consultations can be either in-person or virtual. Virtual visits can be offered to patients who are not local to the San Francisco Area.
Specialized obstetric care and support for future or current pregnancy with individualized prenatal care
- Our team works with people to prepare for pregnancy with a specific care plan that is individualized to them. We offer prenatal care for patients with the same doctor or other obstetric provider throughout pregnancy to closely monitor fetal development and status. Patients at our clinic receive more ultrasounds than a typical patient would, as well as receiving ultrasounds at every prenatal visit if desired.
- Patients are encouraged to discuss their preferred appointment schedule with their providers. Our team’s top priority is to develop open, trusting relationships with patients and create a comfortable, welcoming environment in the Pregnancy After Loss Clinic.
- Core team members at the clinic have received specialized training in supporting patients experiencing pregnancy after loss.
- Together, we develop a plan to support conception and positive pregnancy outcomes in an environment equipped to reduce anxiety and help prevent future perinatal losses.
