ANSIRH Director of Research, Diana Greene Foster, received the 2017 Robert A. Hatcher Family Planning Mentor Award by the Society of Family Planning at this year’s North American Forum on Family Planning. The award is given to individuals who dedicate themselves to mentoring the next generation of family planning professionals. Through her work with the groundbreaking Turnaway Study, Dr. Foster has and continues to help guide numerous mentees from their early careers into faculty and research positions both at The University of California, San Francisco and elsewhere.
In Dr. Foster’s acceptance speech, she talks about cultural changes that would support women in science and expresses gratitude for her amazing colleagues who were instrumental in making the study possible, both through their work and their support.
